Practicing Shaolin Kungfu and Chan is a way of life at Shaolin Temple. Monastics have dedicated their lives to “cultivate the mind through Chan and strengthen the body through Shaolin Kungfu” over Shaolin Temple’s long history. Today’s Shaolin Kungfu is both the method and the result of Shaolin monastics’ direct experiences and realizations.

Learning Shaolin Kung Fu can enhance one’s physical and mental health and improve one’s quality of life. During sitting meditation one learns to focus the mind by being mindful of one’s breaths. One then can cultivate a clear mind, develop a happier outlook in life, and deal with worries and stresses more effectively. As one learns and practices Kungfu hand forms and weapon forms, one also learns to coordinate one’s breaths with one’s movements. One thencan increase the flexibility of tendons, develop balanced physique, and have muscular strength to withstand physical challenges and prevent injuries. As one trains in defensive and offensive combat exercises, one learns self-defense skills and therefore builds confidence. In today’s high stress environment, learning Shaolin Kungfu can help one enjoy greater physical and mental well-being.

​​Kids that are practicing Kung Fu will have a stronger body and mind. The classes focus on building self-confident, concentration, discipline, patience, coordination and self defense as well as  strengthen the muscles, flexibility, endurance and improvement in overall physical and mental health.

Basic sets of kicks and punches
Shaolin hand forms and/or weapons
Sparring/Self defense

Adult Kungfu class goal is to improve physical and mental health. Classes focus on developing body strength, flexibility, concentration, and coordination which can lead to an increase in self-confident, self-esteem, more energy and overall wellness. On top of that, Kung Fu practice also focus on building individual’s moral and good character in which individual can have a positive impact to family and friends.

The program teaches traditional Shaolin’s exercises “Yijinjing” which based on the medical knowledge of ancient China and conform to the rules of movements of the human body. The practice that emphasis on the combination of movements and stillness, toughness and softness, and the inclusion of both the spirit and the form which aim at improving flexibility, internal power, relaxation as well as meditation practice.
